Civilian Complaint Procedures

The Nassau County Police Department is committed to investigation all complaints made against any of its members.

A Complaint may be made in person at any time and at any Department location, or you may call or write. A supervisor will take the complaint and complete a Complaint Tracking Form. You will receive a Complaint Information Card with a Complaint Tracking Number.

Initially, you can expect to hear from an investigating supervisor within two weeks from the filing of the complaint. Upon the completion of the Complaint Tracking investigation, you will be notified of the findings. If you have not been contacted or need additional information, you may call the Internal Affairs Unit at (516) 573-7120. If you do call please have your Complaint Tracking Number.
